Circularity, packaging

Esembly is a cloth diaper company that sells reusable cloth diapers and a line of skincare and laundering products. Their tagline, "Live less disposably," captures their mission: to provide products that help parents reduce waste.

Esembly sells their Rash Relief Cream in single-use plastic tube. While the tube is made with 50% post-consumer recycled plastic, it is not widely recyclable.

This project proposes an expanded packaging system that significantly reduces packaging waste by integrating refills, including an NYC-based returnable packaging program. Compared to Esembly's current single-use packaging, the solutions have the potential to decrease fossil fuel use and greenhouse warming potential by up to 83 percent.
